DeFuniak Springs Trailer Rental: Worth the Drive, Built for Big Jobs
DeFuniak Springs is rural, and the jobs up here tend to be bigger than a pickup bed. Land clearing, tractor moves, roof tear-offs, and shuttling equipment between properties are the usual reasons folks come looking for a trailer.
Acone's Trailer Rentals is a veteran owned yard in Mary Esther, and DeFuniak Springs is one of the areas we serve. You can tow from our yard, or ask about delivery when you book if you would rather not make the drive down 331 twice.
Here is what fits which job, and how to decide between the daily rate and the weekly rate.
Which trailer fits the job
- 7x36 gooseneck for tractors, skid steers, and side-by-side equipment moves. It has an open center with a steel mesh floor, so it stays light and carries more payload.
- 8.5x24 16K equipment trailer for contractor jobs, dirt work, and mini-ex hauls. It comes with a wireless winch, straps, and 3/8 chains and binders.
- 6x10 dump trailer for roofing tear-offs, dirt loads, and construction debris. A tarp is included.
- 7x20 car hauler, Ole Faithful, when you are moving one vehicle instead of equipment. The 7ft aluminum ramps are easy on low cars, and the wireless winch loads what will not drive on.
Gooseneck or bumper pull
The two heaviest trailers we run are the 7x36 gooseneck and the 8.5x24 16K equipment trailer. Both are built for serious loads. The difference is how they hook to your truck.
7x36 gooseneck: hitches in the bed of your truck on a 2-5/16 inch ball, 14,000 lb GVWR with a 9,800 lb capacity, and 36 feet of deck for tractors, hay equipment, or two pieces at once. Your truck needs to be set up for a gooseneck.
8.5x24 16K equipment trailer: bumper pull, so it hooks to a standard receiver hitch with a 2-5/16 inch ball. It carries a 16,000 lb GVWR and a 12,000 lb capacity, which is what makes it a fit for skid steers and mini excavators.
Daily rate or weekly rate
Daily, weekly, and monthly rates:
- 7x36 gooseneck: $160 day, $800 week, $2,500 month
- 8.5x24 16K equipment trailer: $125 day, $600 week, $1,800 month
- 6x10 dump trailer: $100 day, $500 week, $1,500 month
- 7x20 car hauler: $95 day, $400 week, $1,200 month
Sales tax is added on top of the rate at checkout.
Run the math before you book. By about the fifth day, the weekly rate matches or beats the daily rate on every trailer we run, so weekly is the cheaper answer once the trailer needs to sit on your property for most of a week. Monthly rates are there for land clearing and builds that run long.
Before you hook up
Bring your driver license and proof of insurance. Both are required to rent. If you are not certain your truck can handle a loaded equipment trailer or a gooseneck, run the numbers through our free tow vehicle guide before you book, not in the yard.
Loaded weight is what matters, not the empty trailer. A tractor or skid steer on a heavy trailer will pass what a half ton truck should be pulling. Check your vehicle rating first, and step down to a smaller trailer if the math does not work.
At booking you can pay in full or put down a 50 percent deposit. Cancellations made 48 or more hours before pickup receive a full refund, and cancellations inside 48 hours are subject to a 25 percent fee, so lock in your dates once your job is set.
We also offer optional damage protection on your rental, with a $150 copay. It is worth asking about when you are hauling on dirt roads and job sites.
