Crestview, FL Trailer Rental: Dump, Equipment & Gooseneck Trailers
If you are hauling something in Crestview, you usually need more trailer than a pickup bed. Acone's Trailer Rentals keeps its yard in Mary Esther, and Crestview customers make that drive for tractors, dirt, and demo loads.
We see a lot of round-trip rentals from up here. You haul material out, dump the load at the property, and head back the same day. Other jobs run longer, so folks keep the trailer for the week instead of turning it back that afternoon. Both work, and you book either one online.
Here is what people in Crestview rent, what each trailer actually handles, and what to check before you hook up.
What Crestview usually books
Crestview customers tend to have more land, more livestock, and bigger projects. The list reflects that.
- 7x36 gooseneck for tractors, skid steers, multi-vehicle moves, and hay runs. This is the favorite up here when somebody is pulling a heavier load down 85.
- 8.5x24 16K equipment trailer for contractors handling new construction off Antioch and PJ Adams.
- 6x10 dump trailer for cleanups, dirt moves, and roofing tear-offs. It comes with a tarp.
- 7x20 car hauler, the one we call Ole Faithful, for a project car, a side-by-side, or a load that will not fit in the bed.
Moving a tractor or heavy equipment
Two trailers cover the heavy work, and they split on capacity, deck length, and hitch. The 8.5x24 is the heavy-weight pick: 16,000 pound GVWR with 12,000 pounds of payload, the most weight in our fleet. The 7x36 gooseneck carries 9,800 pounds, but it gives you 36 feet of deck and a gooseneck hitch that tracks straighter behind the truck.
So pick by the load, not by reputation. A dense machine that fits a 24 foot deck rides on the equipment trailer, because that is where the capacity is. A tractor with an implement behind it, hay equipment, or two vehicles at once goes on the gooseneck, where the extra length is what you are paying for. The gooseneck runs an open center with a steel mesh floor, which keeps the trailer itself light so more of its rating goes to the machine.
The two heavy haulers, side by side. 8.5x24 equipment trailer: 16,000 lb GVWR, 12,000 lb capacity, 24 foot deck, bumper pull. 7x36 gooseneck: 14,000 lb GVWR, 9,800 lb capacity, 36 foot deck, gooseneck hitch.
Check your hitch before you drive down. The gooseneck needs a gooseneck hitch in your truck bed, not a bumper ball. The 8.5x24 is a bumper pull, but it rides on a 2-5/16 inch ball, so a truck set up with a 2 inch ball needs the right ball first. Every rental also needs a valid driver's license and proof of insurance, and your tow vehicle has to be rated for the trailer plus the load, not just the trailer. Run your truck through the tow vehicle guide if you are not certain.
Daily, weekly, and monthly rates
Every trailer rents by the day, the week, or the month. Here is what each one costs before Florida sales tax.
| Trailer | Day | Week | Month |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7x36 gooseneck | $160 | $800 | $2,500 |
| 8.5x24 16K equipment | $125 | $600 | $1,800 |
| 6x10 dump | $100 | $500 | $1,500 |
| 7x20 car hauler | $95 | $400 | $1,200 |
A single round trip from Crestview is a day rental, and two day rentals still cost less than a week on every trailer we own. The week starts paying for itself around the fifth day, a little sooner on the car hauler. That is the point where you stop counting trips and just keep the trailer parked at the property between loads.
Count your days before you book. Land clearing, roof tear-offs, and fence jobs rarely finish in one afternoon. If the job looks like five days or more, price the week. If it is two or three days, book the days and pay less.
How booking works
Pick your trailer, pick your dates, and check real-time availability online. You can put half down to hold the trailer or pay in full up front, and Florida sales tax is calculated on your total at checkout so you see the real number before you confirm.
Damage protection is available at checkout, with a $150 copay. The terms are on the protection plan page, and it is worth a read before an equipment haul. If plans change, cancellations made 48 or more hours before pickup get a full refund, and cancellations inside 48 hours carry a 25% fee.
Hauling out toward Walton County instead? The same trailers make that run, and the DeFuniak Springs page covers what those jobs usually look like.
